This year's Eagle Giving Day funds raised for the Department of Teacher Education will be designated to provide support for teacher education students engaged in professional development and leadership opportunities beyond the standard curriculum. Each year we try to support students in attending professional conferences by paying a portion of their registration costs. However, organizations have increased the fees for these opportunities and students find it increasingly difficult to pay the shared cost. This limits how many can participate. We believe student engagement in professional development helps to nurture education leaders. Increasing funding for these opportunities will allow a greater number of students to participate and benefit from the experience.
