Building Tomorrow’s Engineers: Hands-On Projects to Shape the Future
---------
Dear Alumni and Friends,
We are sharing with you a vison to transform how our students prepare for their future careers. Our goal is to fund multi-disciplinary, industry-mimicking technical projects that give students the real-world experience they need to build solutions that will ultimately impact and improve the world.
No matter the state of the job market, great skills are immune to economic ups and downs. Excellent, adaptable engineers are always in high demand. Internships has been the primary means to provide resume building experience. With recent economic downturns, they are harder to come by. This initiative is designed to bridges the gap between classroom theory and industry reality, allowing our students to build recession-proof resumes.
Year-Round Project Launches
Projects can launch any time, including through the summer months, to capitalize on the best timing for resources.
Skills & Project Examples
Through these hands-on challenges, students will develop sought-after skills in complex problem solving, cross-functional communication and interdisciplinary collaboration with added critical technical skills:
- Embedded Systems & Robotics: Programming microcontrollers, sensor integration, and real-time data processing.
- Mechanical Design & Prototyping: CAD modeling, structural analysis, and precision manufacturing.
- Systems Engineering: Managing complex, cross-functional projects from concept to final testing.
Example: Autonomous Delivery Drones: Designing, building, and programming a scale drone capable of navigating obstacles to deliver small payloads.
What We Need: Material & Tools
To make the projects possible, our students need materials and parts to build, and equipment to enable them. Your donations will directly fund:
- Prototype materials and supplies (target: $15,000)
- Precision machinery, including a CNC Lathe and tooling for custom parts fabrication. (target: $15,000)
These are the opportunities that you probably dreamt of when you were a student. Now you have the opportunity to enable them. We invite you to be part of this bigger movement – building tomorrow’s engineers to impact the world.
Our goal is 100 alumni visionaries to build the future together. Whether you can give small or big, it is being a visionary that matters.
