Scholarship Story:
The Reuben D. and Adeline G. Lundquist Memorial Scholarship was established in 1997, and it honors the lives and legacy of Reuben and Adeline Lundquist, two individuals who believed in serving others through leadership, hard work, and education.
Reuben Lundquist spent much of his professional career as a real estate appraiser. He was also actively involved in public service, serving on the Crystal, Minnesota City Council and later as Mayor of Crystal for approximately four years. Through his leadership, he demonstrated a commitment to strengthening and serving his community.
Adeline Lundquist dedicated much of her career to education as a third-grade teacher. Her work in the classroom allowed her to influence the lives of countless young students during some of their most formative years. Her commitment to elementary education reflects the values that continue to guide this scholarship today.
Together, Reuben and Adeline built a family centered on faith, service, and investment in future generations. They were blessed with two children, Brent Lundquist and Lonna Rahn, and later enjoyed the joy of being grandparents.
The scholarship's preference for Elementary Education majors serves as a fitting tribute to Adeline's lifelong commitment to teaching. Through this scholarship, students preparing to enter the teaching profession are encouraged to pursue their calling with excellence and to recognize the lasting impact that educators can have on young lives.
By supporting students at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, the Lundquist family has created a lasting legacy that continues to reflect Reuben and Adeline's values. Their lives remind us that leadership can take many forms, whether through public service, professional work, teaching, or investing in others. Through this scholarship, their influence continues to encourage and support future generations of students.
