Scholarship Story:

The Jubilaires Scholarship honors a legacy of music and ministry that has been shaping lives at Northwestern for generations.

Bob Wilkin, who serves as a representative for the scholarship, was himself a member of the Jubilaires during his college years. The Jubilaires were a student quartet that not only performed on campus but also carried Northwestern’s message far beyond Minnesota. The group had a daily broadcast on KTIS radio, singing live on air from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m., and their music quickly became known both locally and nationally.

One of the highlights of the Jubilaires’ ministry was singing at the Fourth Evangelical Program in Fort Worth, Texas, where they were invited by Billy Graham himself. For an entire week, the Jubilaires sang nightly to crowds of over 17,500 people. Getting there was no small feat: they braved a Minnesota snowstorm, following a snowplow all the way to the state border before continuing their long drive south. Once they arrived, they stepped onto the stage as the featured singers for the campaign, representing Northwestern on a national platform.

The Jubilaires traveled often to share their music and testimony, leaving campus on weekends to sing at churches and events, then returning in time for classes. Along the way, they grew in faith, fellowship, and musical excellence.

The Jubilaires Scholarship was established to continue that legacy. Created by members of the Jubilaires and supported by their community, the scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Music at Northwestern. It serves as a reminder of the dedication, talent, and faithful service that defined the Jubilaires, and it encourages today’s students to carry forward the same commitment to Christ and excellence in music.

Through this scholarship, the voices of the Jubilaires continue to echo, inspiring new generations of musicians to glorify God with their gifts.
