History Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Recipients must be full-time History majors who maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in History. Students must have a strong Christian commitment that reflects the mission, vision, and values of University of Northwestern – St. Paul.

Scholarship Story:

In 2001, the History Scholarship was established by an anonymous donor whose connection to University of Northwestern – St. Paul runs deep through a close relationship with a member of the History faculty. While the donor has chosen to remain unnamed, their desire to support students reflects a genuine appreciation for the study of history and for the role Christian higher education plays in shaping thoughtful, faithful leaders.

For this donor, history is more than a collection of dates and events. It is a discipline that invites students to think critically, understand context, and recognize God’s work across generations. The scholarship was created with the hope of encouraging students who approach their studies with intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and a commitment to integrating faith with learning.

Special emphasis is placed on supporting students who excel in their History coursework.
